We think Gatto is the candidate best equipped to do so.” A Message From Assemblyman Mike Gatto  To my constituents, Since you elected me in June, I have been working hard to put my experience and qualifications to good use in the Legislature.  My mission is to bring back to California government what I call the Three Cs of good government:  caring, creativity, and common sense.  We need legislators who care enough to put their career-related or partisan considerations on hold for the good of the state and our neighborhoods.  We need creative solutions for difficult problems, problems that have festered for years and are now contributing to a very challenging atmosphere in California.  And we need common sense in Sacramento, the same commonsense solutions to our problems that so many of you have shared with me in our conversations. One of the things I campaigned on was my anger at how much the special interests dominate Sacramento.  So much so, that they had succeeded in blocking legislation, year after year, to ban endocrine-disrupting toxic chemicals from baby bottles and baby-formula cans.  Well, I am proud to report that this year, I was able to convince several legislators to take a stand to protect our most vulnerable citizens.  And the bill finally passed by one vote -- mine.  The outcome of elections really do matter. I am also working very hard to repair our state’s finances, which I believe is of the utmost importance.  During the days and years ahead, I will focus on preventing municipal corruption, reforming abusive pension practices, and making sure our state takes sensible steps so that the budget crises we face today do not re-appear every year.
